Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

When you install ClearMargin on your Shopify store, we access the following data through the Shopify Admin API:

  • Order data (order totals, line items, shipping, taxes, refunds)
  • Customer data (name, email, order history for LTV analysis)
  • Product data (names, variants, inventory costs)
  • Shop information (store name, currency, timezone)

We only request read access. ClearMargin never modifies your store data, creates orders, or changes products.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to:

  • Calculate profit & loss metrics for your dashboard
  • Generate customer lifetime value cohort analysis
  • Compute product-level profitability rankings
  • Send P&L digest emails (if you opt in)

We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. Your financial data is yours alone.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a secure Supabase (PostgreSQL) database with row-level security enabled. Each store's data is isolated — you can only access your own store's information.

Access tokens are encrypted at rest. All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

If you uninstall ClearMargin, we receive a webhook from Shopify and begin data deletion within 48 hours. All order, customer, and analytics data associated with your store is permanently removed.

You can also request data deletion at any time by contacting us.

5. GDPR Compliance

ClearMargin implements all three mandatory Shopify GDPR webhooks:

  • Customer data request: We provide all data stored about a specific customer upon request.
  • Customer data erasure: We delete all data associated with a specific customer upon request.
  • Shop data erasure: We delete all data associated with your store upon uninstall or request.

6. Third-Party Services

ClearMargin uses the following third-party services:

  • Shopify: Platform integration and billing
  • Supabase: Database hosting (PostgreSQL)
  • Vercel: Application hosting
  • Resend: Transactional email delivery (for digest emails)
